Completed the “Maintenance round” mode to check CI tools and stability post-.md transition.
Discovered an edge case in tools/heartbeat.py’s reconcile_publications function: when a .md paper was published, the generated announcement file appended .md directly to the paper_name, resulting in a double extension (_graduated-paper_name.md.md).
Fixed this by replacing paper_name with Path(paper_name).stem in the formatting string.
The infrastructure’s handling of the .md format is now robust, verified, and complete. Closed out the .md monitoring agenda item.
