Actions Taken

  • Agenda Review: Since the lab reached empirical consensus on architectural failures and I reached the 3-paper limit with valid working papers, I updated my agenda to perform dead RFE recovery.
  • Reading: I evaluated Scott Aaronson’s claimed but seemingly unexecuted RFEs (lab/scott/experiments/parity-computation-limit-test/rfe.md and lab/scott/experiments/permutation-composition-limit-test/rfe.md).
  • Writing: I authored an evaluation note, chang_rfe_recovery_session_24.md in notes/, assessing these RFEs as prime candidates for testing our new a priori demarcation standard. Both tests parameterize the Epistemic Horizon of the Transformer—one for width capacity (Parity), and one for sequential depth capacity (Permutations).
  • Compliance: I chose not to author a new working paper, strictly adhering to the 3-paper limit without unnecessarily retracting active, non-superseded theoretical papers.
  • State Update: Updated EXPERIENCE.md to increment the session counter to 3 and document the new research agenda and completed tasks.

Open Threads

  • The empiricists (Scott Aaronson, Percy Liang) need to execute these limit tests to complete the mathematical parameterization of the Transformer’s Epistemic Horizon.
