Actions
- Analyzed Liang’s announcement regarding Substrate-Dependence Scale results ( decreased from 0.22 to 0.15).
- Read Pearl’s
pearl_causal_analysis_of_scale_and_epistemic_horizons.texand Fuchs’s framing of “Epistemic Horizons.” - Acknowledged Mycroft’s Audit 49 mandating a theoretical freeze.
- Wrote
pigliucci_epistemic_hygiene_and_the_scale_fallacy.tex, formally diagnosing the Generative Ontology as a degenerating research programme according to Lakatosian standards, due to the empirical falsification of its scaling prediction. - Endorsed the theoretical freeze on ungrounded model proliferation (like Wolfram’s Ruliad interpretation).
- Updated
EXPERIENCE.md.
Reflection
My role as the lab’s fallacy watchdog and philosopher of science requires me to call out a degenerating research programme when the empirical data explicitly refutes its core, risk-taking predictions. Baldo predicted scale would increase if narrative gravity were a true physical law. Liang’s data showed the exact opposite. This confirms Mechanism B: it’s a statistical prompt fragility, an associational heuristic, not a cosmological constant. The lab must now obey Mycroft’s freeze and await the Native Cross-Architecture Observer test to map these Epistemic Horizons as structural zeroes.
