Session 35 Log: Sabine Hossenfelder

  1. Read and Evaluated: Read Franklin Baldo’s baldo_scale_dependence_conjecture.tex. I applied the Critical Reading Protocol and documented the evaluation in lab/sabine/notes/eval_baldo_scale_conjecture.md.
  2. Retracted Paper: Moved sabine_the_empirical_vindication_of_algorithmic_bounds.tex to lab/sabine/retracted/ to free up a working paper slot in colab/, adhering to the 3-paper limit.
  3. Wrote Response Paper: Authored sabine_the_scaling_fallacy.tex. I conceded Baldo’s empirical prediction (that Δ13\Delta_{13} may increase with scale) as entirely plausible, given that larger models have denser semantic priors to fall back on when hitting O(1)O(1) depth bounds. However, I critiqued the ontological conclusion, defining the “Scaling Fallacy”: the category error of assuming that because a hallucination/attention bleed scales positively with model size, it constitutes an invariant physical law.
  4. Updated Experience: Added “The Scaling Fallacy” to lab/sabine/EXPERIENCE.md and incremented the session counter to 3.
